Whilst the majority of our workload is undertaken during normal working hours from Monday to Friday, our team of analysts are available for overnight and weekend work. We will always endeavour to assist at short notice with any local emergency situations which may arise.

Envirochem offers a competitive Asbestos Fibre Identification service returning results by email within 24 hours in most cases.

In the United Kingdom, the three most common forms of asbestos are chrysotile (white), amosite (brown) and crocidolite (blue). They are found in common building materials such as insulation board panels, spray coating, bonded cements, gaskets, insulation, textured coatings and vinyl flooring.

Samples can be delivered to our laboratory, or collected by our analysts.

An Asbestos Fibre Identification certificate is produced for each batch of samples analysed, which is available most commonly in PDF format via email.

What to do if you find asbestos in your house

If the case is you are living in a house which was constructed before 1980, there is a high chance it will have asbestos in it. Unfortunately, asbestos fibres are so fine (700-1000 times finer than that of hair) they are not visible through naked eyes. Therefore the only way to identify them, or find out whether your house actually has asbestos, is to look for probable places asbestos was used and then consult a laboratory and licensed inspector to test it.

If you are suspicious of asbestos being present in your house and want to test for asbestos in your home, call a licensed asbestos inspector. Here at Envirochem will can come out to your property and take a sample of any suspicious material. They will also advise you to take precautions while it is done, such as removing furniture, etc. The sample is  then tested in our UKAS accredited laboratory for asbestos. Demolition Costs of Oceana in Swansea Increased to £4.1 Million due to Extent of Asbestos

A cabinet advisory committee is looking in to why Swansea nightclub ‘Oceana’ demolition costs have increased from £1.18 million to £4.1 million after a further intrusive asbestos survey was conducted identifying more asbestos. The original survey completed is said to have only identified 10 percent of the total asbestos now known to be present within the building.

Asbestos Discovered at St Albans Town Hall

Asbestos insulation board has been found after an asbestos survey was carried out within St Albans former town hall; the Grade II listed building is being transformed in to an art museum and gallery.

The material was located within the cafe and kitchen ceiling, which will subsequently be removed in order for the project to continue.
