Asbestos in public buildings throughout Scotland is causing an increasing number of health concerns.
In 2014 Scotland had the highest recorded number of mesothelioma cases in the world, at 175.
Victims of asbestos exposure are asking for the problem to be prioritised in the upcoming council elections.

Public buildings can have a significant amount of asbestos present and it is important that this is managed appropriately by having up to date asbestos surveys carried out to reduce the risk of exposure. General building use can cause asbestos containing materials to deteriorate and subsequently release asbestos fibres in to the air.
