When asbestos is found in a building it must be removed and disposed of by a ‘registered operative’. A recent statement, from a cabinet member, revealed that failure to prove that the removal of asbestos was completed by a registered operative can traced back to properties owner, who is then held responsible. Asbestos is often fly-tipped due to the costly removal and disposal.
