Over 200 schools within the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas still contain some form of asbestos containing materials.
Asbestos can become a health risk if disturbed for example through refurbishment/demolition work, causing fibres to be released and become airborne.
North Somerset Council has paid out nearly £450,000 to settle asbestos claims in the last 10 years.
