Envirochem was founded in Fareham in 1989 by Raphael Mirzaians, Dr. Alan Howard, and Susan Kemp with a clear mission: to provide bespoke scientific services that accurately detect exposure to hazardous substances. From day one, our founders recognised a need within the industry for precise, reliable testing to protect both human health and the environment. Their combined expertise in scientific research and business development laid a strong foundation for what would become a trusted name in occupational hygiene and environmental monitoring.
Milestones
Over the years, Envirochem has celebrated numerous milestones and achievements:
- UKAS Accreditation Since 1992: We first gained UKAS accreditation in asbestos testing in 1992. Since then, our scope of accreditation has steadily expanded, reflecting our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
- Opening of our Bristol Branch: Recognising the growing demand for our services beyond our original location of Fareham, we established a Bristol branch to better serve clients in the region. This expansion allowed us to strengthen relationships with local businesses and provide more accessible, on-the-ground support.
- Notable Decommissioning Projects: We’ve played a key role in ensuring safe decommissioning practices for a variety of high-profile sites, including the Boldrewood Medical Centre at Southampton University and a Cancer Research UK building in preparation for the London School of Economics’ occupancy.
- Emissions and Exposure Monitoring: Envirochem has carried out emissions and exposure monitoring for a wide range of organisations, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Exxon Mobil, and several leading universities—such as Southampton, Portsmouth, and Reading.
- International Reach: Our commitment to delivering expert solutions has led us beyond the UK, with projects in Gibraltar and Geneva. This international experience demonstrates our ability to adapt our services to diverse regulatory environments and client needs across the globe.
Today, Envirochem continues to evolve in response to emerging challenges in occupational hygiene and environmental risk mitigation. Guided by the vision of our founders and a highly skilled team, we remain dedicated to empowering organisations around the globe to safeguard their people, their projects, and the environment
